                                      WELCOME FRIENDS!!!!

If you are in the market for The Best Dulcimer or Violin/Fiddle that money can buy, you've come to the Right Place!

My Family has been building The Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer since 1832!

My Great Great Great Grandfather, John D. Scales Jr. of Floyd County Virginia is the earliest known builder to incorporate "The Raised Hollow Fretboard" into the Mountain Dulcimer.

His design Continues to be used in practically all Dulcimers today!

We PROUDLY continue our Heritage today in building the finest "Handcrafted, One-of-a-kind Mountain Dulcimers".

The Current Builder, Luthier is Mr. Tim Scales. Tim has been building the Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer since 1974.

Tim's Grandfather, Mother and Dad got him interested in playing the Dulcimer at a very early age, Tim's Grandfather started teaching him to build the Dulcimer at the age of 14. To date Tim Scales has built over 1.500 Appalachian Mountain Dulcimers.

Tim Has hand crafted more than 500 Solid Wood Violin/fiddles since 1988. His Uncle, Mr Phillip Ashley and Great-Grandfather Mr. William R. Ashley were well  known builders of The Violin/Fiddle in the late 1800's to the mid 1900's. Tim Carries on this tradition as well.
